The following are special cases:
To express the first,
use le premier or la première. For the last, use le dernier or
la dernière. All other ordinals are
formed by adding -ième to the
cardinal number.
When the cardinal number ends in -e. drop the e before
adding -ième: quatre/quatrième
Add u to cinq before adding the ordinal ending: cinquième
Change the f of neuf to v before adding
the ordinal ending: neuvième
